Find answers about digital marketing for your business, and about our approach.

FAQ

Does my business really need digital marketing?

Of course. Think of it this way: how often have you, even in your hometown, searched for "restaurants near me"? A good digital marketing and SEO strategy can help people find your website when they're looking for products and services like yours.

Even if you don't sell your products online, people will be looking for stores and services. Do you want them to find you?

Can I get results with digital marketing right away?

Sure, you can run an ad and get some clicks, likes, or other. But a good digital marketing strategy is long-term, sustained branding. Plus, getting an ad click doesn't mean much if your website, or click destination, isn't designed to engage the user and promote action.

What is the one thing I need to know about digital marketing?

Digital marketing is a strategic process that takes time and develops as it goes. While you can see quick results, long-term growth and profitability from digital marketing takes time, dedication, flexibility and planning.

Do you take on all projects that come your way?

Not by a long shot. Sometimes we are simply booked. We will not take on your project if we don't believe we can deliver excellence for any number or reasons. That is why you're strongly encouraged to have a conversation with us before buying.

Is my satisfaction guaranteed?

There is no circumstance in which I want your money if you are not satisfied.

While we understand there are some in this world (not you!) who will never be truly happy, we will do everything within reason to exceed your expectations. How well we do depends as much on you, and your willingness to communicate what you want, as it does us.

The simple fact is it is very much in our best interest to have satisfied customers, and because of that I’ll try hard to make sure you are one of them.

That being said, within 14 days of purchase we will present a scope of work and refine it until both parties agree on its substance. During this time you can withdraw (no hard feelings!).

Of course, if you are the least bit dissatisfied, contact us and we’ll do our best to make it right.

Are results guaranteed?

No. Because we are not yet familiar with your current plans, team, and other influencing factors, we cannot guarantee a specific result such as number of sales, revenue, etc. This is why we take a holistic approach to your marketing strategy; we will be able to determine reasonable expectations given your unique circumstances and then set out to exceed them.

Do you present a strategic marketing plan and that’s it, or do you do the implementation and execution?

That’s entirely up to you. You can hire me as a fractional CMO for as long as you need me. Or, you can hire me to develop and hand over a comprehensive strategic digital marketing plan that includes everything you need to be off and running. Or you can hire me for a specific campaign. Your options are nearly limitless.

Talk to me, for free, in-person, on the phone, or via video chat and we’ll discuss solutions specific to your needs.

What is a Fractional CMO anyway?

A Fractional CMO is kind of what it sounds like. You get C-Suite level talent without the high salary of bringing such a person on full time. Typically a Fractional CMO will work for your company on a part-time basis, for a specified period of time, or some combination of the two. What you're doing is hiring a contractor, albeit a highly-qualified one, and as such you don't have to worry about enormous long-term salary, the cost of benefits, or FICA (talk to your accountant).

What you get is knowledge, experience, and expertise. Bring on a Fractional CMO to introduce a new product, manage a campaign, or help you build an accountable team and culture. Such a person can fill a need on a temporary or part time basis, making otherwise out-of-budget talent attainable for small and growing businesses.

Is buying your strategic marketing plan the same as hiring you as a Fractional CMO?

Nope. Our strategic plans are designed to accomplish a specific, focused outcome, usually a marketing campaign. As such, that's where the energy and effort is focused. While comprehensive, our strategic marketing plans are more narrow in scope.

In contrast, as a Fractional CMO you get someone to lead, build, and improve from the inside. While campaigns will happen during your engagement, a Fractional CMO will put a premium on creating a culture of accountability, building a highly-qualified team, and developing a clear definition of success for your business as a whole.

Do you outsource any services?

Absolutely, when it makes sense for both of us that I do so. When you engage me to develop a strategic marketing plan for your business the document you receive will be entirely crafted by me. If, for example, you choose to secure Digital Janus for integration and execution of your new marketing strategy, part of that work may be outsourced.

Any consultant, independent contractor, or similar has been fully vetted, is an expert in his or her specialty, and is overseen by me.

What does SEO stand for?

SEO is short for Search Engine Optimization. On a basic level, that means, is your website written and laid out in such a way that makes it easy and appealing for search engines crawlers to understand. The better your SEO, the more likely your wesite is to get found by potential customers during a search.

What things should my website contain for good SEO?

Well, a lot, actually. Is your copy well-written and easy to comprehend? How about the markup and code itself? Are your images and pictures appropriate, conveying relevant information? Does your site load fast, and is it mobile-friendly? The list goes on.</p>

Though simple in concept, really good SEO is quite detailed. And, it's an ongoing process. That's why we like to understand your business, and give you regular reporting of your site's performance.

Does SEO involve more than my website?

You bet. It involves fresh, meaningful content on your website, and on your social media platforms as well. It's also great to have other reputable sites linking to content on yours.

There are so many aspects to good, well-rounded SEO. Talk to us!

What’s one simple thing I can do to improve my SEO?

While sustained attention to SEO is a strategic, ongoing process, did you know it's really important these days to secure your site's content with a SSL certificate? These are what makes your web address "https" rather than "http", the "s" standing for "secure". The good news is SSL certificates are affordable (if not free) and easily applied. Just ask us!

Why should I choose a professional web designer? Can’t I just do it myself these days?

Let’s say you decide it’s time to remodel your bathroom. Your options are: 1) hire a designer and contractor who specializes in this sort of thing; and, 2) go to Home Depot, buy what you need, and do it yourself.

Home Depot’s website shows pictures of great bathrooms, and the vanity, garden tub and fixtures you want are all in stock. Off you go.

Some time passes, and you’ve got everything you need. You even have the old tub and vanity out at the curb. You start positioning things, and get everything lined up just right. Your bathroom looks Exactly like the picture.

But, wait, when you turn the knob, no water comes out of the faucet. In fact, the vanity is kind of leaning forward, because it’s not attached to the wall. Forget about flushing your new toilet.

Sometimes it’s worthwhile to hire a pro from the start, someone who knows how to put it all together and make it work the way you want it to.

Do you offer hosting?

Sure do. We provide a secure hosting platform  regardless of your requirements (which we will discuss with you in detail). Our hosting starts with rates as low as $10 per month, and your hosting fees will be determined by the storage and bandwidth you need.

All of our hosting is done on secure, off-site servers with regular backups and redundancies, security patches and software upgrades.

We find all processes to run more smoothly when we host your site, but it’s not a requirement.

Do I need a domain name?

Yes, and you have options. If you have a domain name already (like “example.com”), great! We’ll review your hosting options as we work on building your new website.

If you don’t have a domain, we can help. We’ll work with you to select an available name that best fits your business. We can take care of the registration, renewals, and hosting as well.

What’s the best way to get started?

Take advantage of a free, live consultation via phone, video chat, or in-person. You will not find it to be salesy.
